Floor lamp from sustainable production

With AYNO – the first design of a new Midgard lamp since the 1950s – industrial designer Stefan Diez bridges the gap between the origins and the present of steerable light. The collaboration between Midgard Licht and Stefan Diez manifests Midgard's inventive spirit. AYNO, radically reduced to the essentials, meets all requirements for design, technology and sustainability.

The central feature of the AYNO family of lights is a fiberglass rod, which is stretched into an arch with the lamp cable. The inherent tension of the rod ensures a lamp without any joints. By moving the two adjustment rings on the holder and head of the lamp, the fiberglass rod is bent into the desired position, thus directing the light in the desired direction. The radius of the arch can be changed as desired by moving the adjustment rings. The light can be finely adjusted using the pivoting lampshade.

The minimalist design enables extremely low resource consumption: the primary materials used, steel, fiberglass and ABS-PC, are fully recyclable – in any case, an AYNO is already made from mainly recycled materials (steel and plastic).

The AYNO is designed for durability: it can be repaired by the user without tools. Plug-in connections allow the lamp head, LED unit or transformer to be replaced by hand, which significantly extends the life of the lamp. The LED bulb can be replaced without tools.
