A culinary and cultural journey of discovery:

A very special cookbook, a very special encounter: Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi, an Israeli and a Palestinian, introduce us to the cuisine of their homeland in this book. Jerusalem, a religious center and pilgrimage destination for the three major world religions, has always attracted people from all over the world. The city is a melting pot not only culturally, but also culinary. The blend of the cuisines of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East creates a real firework display of flavors.

A total of 126 delicious recipes reflect the multicultural nature of Jerusalem: from spinach salad with dates and almonds to latkes and rice pudding with rose water, each dish is like a culinary journey of discovery. The authors offer a diverse collection of traditional dishes and new ideas, inspired by characteristic ingredients from their homeland. Interesting specials on typical dishes and ingredients round off the trip to the Orient.

Impressive images of the country and its people as well as small everyday stories create an authentic portrait of the diverse metropolis. The atmospheric food photography, the tastefully elegant layout and the linen cover make the book a small work of art. Jerusalem should not be missing from any cookbook collection!

About the authors:

Both were born in Jerusalem, but only met 30 years later in London. The Israeli Yotam Ottolenghi and the Palestinian Sami Tamimi now run four coffee shops and a restaurant together. Given the cultural differences in their previous lives, the success of their collaboration is all the more impressive. The two chefs are now among the rising stars of the London gastronomy scene.
